New Promo + Ep 6

Remus the Panda Warrior from the AI War Panda podcast, wearing his new blue and gold sci-fi armour with a glowing chest piece. He is charging forward with a large hammer and a blue energy shield, accompanied by a floating brain-linked hover drone.

My homage to those comic books of the past that had great covers which had nothing to do with the story inside. This image has absolutely nothing to do with the blog post below—it just shows Remus looking handsome in his new armour.

I have spent the last three days wrestling with pixels to create a promo video that lasts less than 90 seconds. The math on that doesn't seem fair, does it?

I finally sat down and properly re-honed my skills in Final Cut Pro. While I wish I could say it was a seamless process, it was mostly a journey of discovery. On the bright side, I’ve refined the looks for some of the main characters—Remus, in particular, is looking particularly handsome these days.

However, I also subjected myself to the mixed horror and humour of generating a virtual AI version of myself for the promo. It is truly surreal to see someone who basically looks like you, but captures that specific trait of "total cringe" whilst staring into the camera. If you want to see a digital Englishman look uncomfortable, the video is at the bottom of this post.

The Necessary Evil of Promo

Personally, I wish I didn't have to do the promo stuff. I just like creating the podcast and I wish it would just stop there. But, having given so much of the past year over to AI War Panda and the Deadheart realm, it really deserves the chance to be heard.

Like it or not, Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts seem to be the new gateway for people finding stuff. So, I surrender to the algorithm.

Episode 6: Blue and Gold

Marketing aside, I must say I was really happy with the way Episode 6 turned out. I’m also proud to report that this time, I didn't spend 27 hours in one go creating it. I’m sure my wife, my cat, and my poor overactive brain appreciated the change in pace.

In this episode, "Blue and Gold," Cyber Monday hits harder than expected. While Remus, Aric, and Mc Wordy are busy arguing about pies and haircuts, Skylar delivers the bad news: Orvak Trenholme is racing toward Earth, his braking burn set to light up the December sky before he arrives to kill everyone (except Lady Deadheart, naturally).

Suddenly the house needs defences, I need a reality check, and Mc Wordy needs to stop doing crypto scams to fund the upgrades.

Meanwhile, aboard the Hayurei, Deadheart unveils Remus’s gift: a stunning new set of blue-and-gold armour, complete with a brain-linked hover drone. We also receive an intercepted transmission between Orvak and Kovosh confirming that War is coming and biscuits won’t save us this time.

The Music

This episode's original AI song is called “On the Eve of War.” I wrote the lyrics to echo what happens to us in the real world: we try and hide from the reality that is coming. I did it in a Country Hip Hop style that I found quite catchy I’ve actually been singing it all week.

Give the episode a listen, and check out the promo video below (try not to laugh at Virtual Aric) my wife hasn’t stopped yet 😂.
